ARCH seeking community feedback on Bill C-81 – Accessible Canada Act

ARCH released a Report describing the new Bill C-81 – An Act to ensure a barrier-free Canada - also referred to as the Accessible Canada Act. The Report is attached below. ARCH also released a plain language summary of the Report that is also attached below.

After you read the Report or plain language summary, please consider completing the following survey. ARCH is consulting with people with disabilities to get feedback about what they think the Accessible Canada Act should say. ARCH has a survey with questions that you can answer about what you think of  the Accessible Canada Act. You can answer the survey by using this https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TKHM6CH

The Questions that we ask in our survey are the following:

  1. Do you think that the Accessible Canada Act can address the barriers that you experience within federally regulated sectors? Yes/No

  2. The Accessible Canada Act creates a new organization called the Canadian Accessibility Standards Development Organization (CASDO) that will develop accessibility standards. Should certain other agencies, like the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission and the Canadian Transportation Agency, be enabled to develop their own accessibility standards rather than CASDO developing all of the accessibility standards?  Yes/No

  3. The Accessible Canada Act creates a new position called the Accessibility Commissioner that will receive complaints. Should certain other agencies,  like the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission and the Canadian Transportation Agency, also be enabled to receive certain types of complaints? Yes/No

  4. Do you think there is anything missing in the Accessible Canada Act that should be included?

  5. Do you have any other comments about the Accessible Canada Act that you would like ARCH to know?

You can let ARCH know if you need accommodations to answer the questions. Here are other ways to communicate with ARCH:
