Education Law
ARCH’s work in education law focuses on the access, accommodation and inclusion of children with disabilities in Ontario to primary and secondary public education. Ontario’s Human Rights Code protects people with disabilities from discrimination when they receive services. This includes children with disabilities who receive public education services.
ARCH’s activities in education law include:
- conducting law reform, public and continuing legal education and community development projects in education and human rights [see services for community];
- providing summary legal advice to students with disabilities and/or their parents regarding education issues and the duty to accommodate in schools [see services for individuals]; and
- providing legal representation to students with disabilities in brief services or test case litigation [see services for individuals]. To qualify for legal representation, clients must meet Legal Aid Ontario’s financial eligibility guidelines.
