Presenter’s Bio

Gary Malkowski, M.A., L.H.D., Deaf Activist and Former Chair, ARCH Board

Gary Malkowski is a renowned Deaf advocate, educator, accessibility strategist, and former legislator. As of 2025, Gary joins the Deaf Wireless Canada Consultative Committee (DWCC) as a Policy and Accessibility Consultant, bringing decades of leadership in human rights, anti-audism, accessible education, and government engagement.

Gary is recognized nationally and provincially for advancing accessibility rights and anti-discrimination policies. He advises various Ombudsman offices and human rights organizations on anti-audism, anti-ableism, and disability-inclusive policy development. His work has contributed to landmark accessibility rulings, including at the Supreme Court of Canada, and to developing employment equity and anti-racism laws.
