ARCH provides a Summary Advice and Referral Service directly to persons with disabilities within Ontario. Through this service ARCH provides free, confidential legal advice and information on specific disability-related areas of law. When a person is seeking advice or assistance with a legal matter that falls outside of these areas of law, ARCH will provide them with referrals to appropriate private bar lawyers, as well as other resources, which may be able to provide them with the advice or assistance they are seeking.
Why it matters
- Many areas of law impact persons with disabilities
- Many areas are outside ARCH’s scope of practice and that of other legal clinics
- Many persons with disabilities do not qualify for legal aid
